"This Is a Call" is the first major single released by the [[Foo Fighters]] from their [[Foo Fighters (album)|self-titled debut album]]. It was released in 1995. No video was made for the song.

[[Dave Grohl]] said about the song: "The chorus says 'This is a call to all my past resignation'. It's just sort of like a little wave to all the people I ever played music with, people I've been friends with, all my relationships, my family. It's a hello, and in a way a thank you."

The song debuted at #12 on the Modern Rock Tracks chart. It quickly rose to a peak of number 2, being held off the top spot by Alanis Morissette's massive hit "You Oughta Know." This was the band's highest peak until "Learn to Fly" topped the chart in late 1999. Surprisingly, the song also charted at #5 on the UK Singles Chart, marking their highest-peaking single on this chart, along with "All My Life." Both songs held this record until "Best of You" reached #4 in 2005.
